What Are We Looking For With A Tree Assessment?

Visual Inspection: We usually begin with a thorough visual inspection of the entire tree, from the crown to the roots. This includes looking for signs of stress, decay, or damage.

Identification of Species: Identifying the species of the tree is important as it helps in understanding the specific care requirements, common diseases, and pests associated with that species.

Assessment of Tree Health: Checking for signs of diseases or pests that commonly affect trees in Tennessee. This includes looking for discolored leaves, cankers, or unusual leaf loss which might indicate health issues.

Evaluation of Structural Integrity: Examining the tree for any structural weaknesses, such as cracks in the trunk or major limbs, weak branch unions, or signs of previous storm damage. This is important for assessing the risk of falling branches or tree failure.

Root System Examination: Inspecting the visible parts of the tree's root system for signs of rot, fungus, or other issues that could compromise the tree's stability.

Assessment of the Tree's Environment: Evaluating the tree's surroundings for potential hazards or environmental stressors, such as nearby construction, utility lines, or other structures that might impact the tree's growth and health.

Risk Assessment: Determining the risk level the tree poses to people, property, and nearby structures, especially if the tree is diseased, damaged, or in a weakened state.

Recommendations for Care: Based on the assessment, providing recommendations for care or maintenance to improve the tree's health and safety. This might include pruning, treatment for diseases or pests, or in some cases, suggesting removal if the tree is beyond saving.

Monitoring Suggestions: Advising on the frequency of monitoring the tree for changes in health and stability, especially if the tree is in a condition that could worsen over time.

Documentation: Keeping detailed records of the findings and recommendations for each tree assessed. This documentation can be useful for future reference or if any work needs to be done.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trimming

A tree assessment is a detailed evaluation conducted by tree care professionals to determine the health, stability, and overall condition of a tree. It involves inspecting the tree for signs of disease, damage, or potential hazards to ensure its safety and well-being.

Tree assessments are crucial for identifying potential problems early, ensuring the safety of your property and loved ones, and maintaining the health and beauty of your landscape. They can help prevent property damage and personal injury caused by falling branches or trees.

We recommend having your trees assessed at least once a year or after severe weather events. However, if you notice any signs of decline or damage in your trees, it's wise to schedule an assessment immediately.

While a tree assessment can identify health issues and stress factors, early detection and proper care can often save a sick tree. Our recommendations will focus on improving the tree's condition and preventing further decline.

If a tree is determined to be a hazard, we will recommend the best course of action, which may include pruning, support systems, or removal, depending on the severity of the risk and the tree's condition.

While it's not always necessary for you to be present during the assessment, we encourage your presence to discuss findings and recommendations directly.

We assess all types of trees, with a particular focus on the most common species found in Tennessee, such as Oak, Maple, Pine, and Dogwood, among others.

The cost of a tree assessment varies based on the number of trees, their size, and the specific needs of the assessment. We provide a detailed estimate after understanding the scope of the assessment required.

I hired White’s Tree Service to cut a large tree in my yard. They had done work in my neighborhood as had other tree services and storm chasers after the big storm last year. I chose White’s Service after seeing their work. You could tell the houses where Chris White worked. He did not destroy the yard with a skid loader or damage good trees with falling trees and branches. It is good to see someone who takes pride in his work. I was very happy with their work and price. I was even more happy not having to clean up after they finished.

We contacted Chris regarding a large pine we needed removed. He was very quick to respond and arranged a visit in a day or so to evaluate and provide an estimate. Chris and his crew arrived on the day agreed upon, and began work immediately. By the time they took a lunch break, the entire tree was down. When they returned, it was amazing how quickly the job was finished. The tree was very close to our storage shed, but they were able to take it down without any damage. They also did a very thorough job of cleaning up after the work and left the yard in great shape. We would have no qualms at all about recommending White's Tree Services and will be using them for future work.
