Tree Removal Services We Provide

Trees add shade, privacy, and value right up until they become a liability. When one does, our crew provides every type of tree removal service Knoxville properties need:

Our experienced crew provides:

Standard Tree Removal

For trees in open areas with clear access. We drop the tree in controlled sections or a single guided fell, chip the brush, and haul every branch. Most backyard removals in Knoxville fall into this category.

Large Tree Removal

Mature oaks, hickories, and pines over 60 feet call for heavier equipment and slower, more deliberate cutting. We take down large hardwoods near homes, garages, fences, and power lines without drama.

Small Tree Removal

Clearing smaller trees from yards, gardens, fence lines, and build sites. Small tree removal opens up space for landscaping, driveways, and additions, and it costs less than most people expect.

Emergency Tree Removal

When a tree comes down on your roof or blocks the driveway, our crew responds day or night, weekends and holidays included.

Learn more about our 24/7 emergency tree service.

Crane-Assisted Tree Removal

For hazardous trees in tight spots, between buildings, or hanging near power lines, the crane lifts each section up and out with full control, protecting everything below.

High Climbing and Manual Tree Removal

When machines cannot reach the tree, our climbers dismantle it piece by piece with ropes, harnesses, and rigging. Common in older Knoxville neighborhoods with mature trees and narrow access.

Chris White and his crew removed a large tree, sitting closely between two houses, for us today. I was so impressed with the whole process. They brought the tree down slowly so our yard was basically untouched. The guys cleaned up everything down to the last twig. I would HIGHLY recommend Chris White to everyone who needs tree service. You won’t find anyone better to do the job!

We had a large tree go down overnight due to high winds. Fortunately it did not hit the house, but still caused damage and blocked the driveway. One call to White’s this morning, Chris came out to give us an estimate which was competitive. The crew was out within 30 minutes. They did an excellent job, even had a stump grinder called in to assist. The tree was taken down, all the debris cleaned up and hauled away. Excellent service, polite, they take pride in their work, would highly recommend.

We are so happy we found this tree company. Sent message over the weekend after losing massive, well over 100 year old Oak tree in our yard. They quickly responded, out the next day for estimate then early show the following day. Professional from start to finish. I pointed out a couple more trees and will absolutely be contacting this tree company for all tree related issues. Hard finding such a reliable professional company like this!!

This guy’s tree work is top-notch-my yard’s never looked better. And the firewood? Burns like a dream, stacks perfect, and delivers a grin with every log. Sure, he won’t haul freebies, but why would you want handouts when you get quality like this?

These guys are great! I had a huge tree fall from my shoreline across to the other side of the cove which blocked all boats from exiting the cove. Chris came in with a plan and made it happen quickly and removed the tree out of the water. It was amazing, quick and efficient and a ton cheaper than the alternative of a barge and crane coming in.

When Does a Tree Need to Be Removed?

Not every tree needs to come down. Healthy trees add value, shade, and beauty to your property. But when a tree becomes a safety risk, removal is the responsible decision. Here are the most common reasons Knoxville homeowners call us:

Dead or dying trees — a dead tree can fall without warning, especially during Tennessee Valley thunderstorms. If the trunk is hollow, the bark is peeling away, or there are no leaves during growing season, that tree needs to go.

Storm-damaged trees — cracked trunks, split limbs, or uprooted root balls after heavy winds. Storm damage weakens a tree's structure and makes it unpredictable. Our crew provides rapid storm damage response across Knoxville and Lenoir City.

Trees leaning toward structures — a tree leaning toward your home, garage, driveway, or fence line is a removal priority, not a trimming job.

Diseased or pest-infested trees — oak wilt, emerald ash borer, and fungal decay spread to surrounding healthy trees if the infected tree is not removed.

Root damage — roots lifting your driveway, cracking your foundation, or invading your sewer lines.

Construction and lot clearing — preparing land for new homes, additions, driveways, septic systems, or landscaping projects.

If you are not sure whether a tree needs removal or just trimming, we offer free tree assessments to help you make the right call.

Our Tree Removal Process

Every tree removal project in Knoxville follows a proven, step-by-step process to keep your property safe.

Step 1

Tree Inspection and Assessment

We evaluate the tree's size, species, health, lean, and proximity to your home, power lines, fences, and other structures. This determines the safest removal method standard cutting, climbing and rigging, or crane-assisted removal.

Tree Removal Cost in Knoxville, TN

Understanding tree removal pricing should not be a guessing game. Costs depend on the size of the tree, where it sits on your property, how close it is to structures, and what equipment is needed to bring it down safely.

What affects the price:

Size and height

Taller, heavier trees take more labor, equipment, and time.

Location and access

Trees in tight spots between buildings, along fence lines, or on slopes require rigging or crane work.

Proximity to structures

Removing a tree 3 feet from your house costs more than one in the middle of your yard because every cut must be controlled.

Tree condition

Dead, leaning, or partially fallen trees are unpredictable and require extra safety measures.

Stump grinding

Add-on service, typically $100–$400 depending on stump size.

Debris hauling and cleanup

Included in our price. Some companies charge extra. Ours does not.

We provide free on-site estimates for all tree removal work. No commitment, no pressure just an honest price based on what the job actually requires. For a detailed breakdown, read our complete Knoxville tree removal cost guide.

Tree Removal Methods We Use

Every property and tree is different, which is why we use multiple professional removal techniques.

High Climbing and Manual Tree Removal

For tight spaces or residential areas, our skilled climbers remove trees in sections using ropes and rigging systems. This method ensures safe removal without damaging nearby structures.

Crane-Assisted Tree Removal

For large trees or trees located near buildings, our crew may use cranes to carefully lift sections of the tree during removal. Crane-assisted tree removal allows us to safely remove large trees that would otherwise be difficult to access.

Standard Tree Removal

For open areas with plenty of space, standard tree removal allows the tree to be safely cut and removed using controlled techniques.

Professional Equipment We Use for Safe, Efficient Tree Removal

Safe and efficient tree removal requires more than experience—it also requires the right professional equipment. At Whites Tree Services, our team uses specialized tree removal tools and machinery designed to handle both small residential jobs and large complex removals.

Using professional equipment allows our crew to complete tree removal in Knoxville safely while minimizing risk to nearby structures, landscaping, and surrounding property.

Our tree removal equipment may include:

Bucket Trucks

Bucket trucks allow our crew to safely reach tall trees without excessive climbing. This equipment helps our team remove branches and sections of trees while maintaining full control during the removal process.

Stump Grinding Equipment

After a tree is removed, our stump grinding machines allow us to remove the remaining stump below ground level, leaving your yard clean and ready for landscaping.

Professional Climbing Gear

When equipment cannot access the tree, our experienced tree climbers use professional ropes, harnesses, and rigging systems to safely remove trees piece by piece.

Chainsaws & Precision Cutting Tools

Our team uses professional-grade chainsaws and cutting equipment designed for safe and controlled tree removal. These tools allow us to carefully cut and remove branches and tree sections during the removal process.

Crane Equipment

For large or hazardous trees located near homes, garages, or power lines, crane-assisted tree removal provides a safer and more controlled solution. Cranes allow us to lift and remove large sections of trees without damaging nearby structures.

Using professional equipment ensures that every tree removal service in Knoxville is performed efficiently, safely, and with minimal impact on your property.
